Big Sur Residence
An old family home built on a ridge overlooking the pacific above Big Sur was destroyed in the July 2008 Big Sur fire. I worked with the owner and a local cabinet designer to create a new home that had some of the feel and history of the old homestead but met California’s new wildfire design standards. The cement plaster exterior walls, metal roof, and tempered glass windows will help protect the exterior from future fires. The interior redwood brings back memories of the old cabin. A photoelectric array helps keep electricity costs down.
